In May 2004 the Australian Government determined that all Ministers should assess the governance arrangements of statutory authorities and office holders against the recommendations of the Review of the Corporate Governance of Statutory Authorities and Office Holders (Uhrig Report).
One of the recommendations within the review was that a Statement of Expectation (SOE) be developed for each statutory authority by the responsible Minister, 'articulating the Minister's expectations in regard to performance, objectives, values and broader government policies'.
The Minister for Home Affairs has issued a Statement of Expectation for the CrimTrac Agency. The Agency has responded with a Statement of Intent (SOI).
